The Museum Poldi Pezzoli is a house museum located in the center of Milan a few steps from the Scala Theatre, in a courtyard of an elegant building. It was officially opened April 25, 1881.
It is part of the circuit of the "Museum Houses of Milan" and exhibits works of many artists, including: Perugino, Piero della Francesca, Botticelli, Antonio Pollaiuolo, Giovanni Bellini, Michelangelo Buonarroti, Pinturicchio, Filippo Lippi, Andrea Mantegna, Jacopo Palma the Elder, Francesco Hayez, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, Jusepe de Ribera, Canaletto, Lucas Cranach the Elder, Luca Giordano.

In practice it is a museum obtained from the first floor apartment of an elegant house in the center. The readjustment already started when the owner Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli was still living there. Following to it the various rooms were set up, each in accordance with a different artistic architectural style. There are therefore a neogothic room, one inspired by to the mannerism, an early Renaissance style room, and so on.

When Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli died in 1879 at only 57 years of age his house and the works of art contained in it passed, in accordance with his testament, to the Brera Academy, in order to make it become a real Art Foundation. The administration and management were entrusted to Bertini, who officially opened the new museum April 25, 1881.

The House Museum houses the private collection of Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli and his predecessors, especially the mother, Rosa Trivulzio. It includes many antiques of magnificent workmanship, paintings by great artists, jewelery from various eras. Suggestive, in particular, also the grand staircase, with a Baroque style fountain at the base.

The ground floor often hosts important exhibitions.
