Manet and the modern Paris

The exhibition "Manet and the modern Paris", which opens on March 8 in Milan on the grand palace of Palazzo Reale - until July 2 - intends to tell the artistic path of the great master (1832-1883), who in little more than two decades of intense activity, produced 430 paintings, two thirds of which copies, sketches, minor or unfinished works. A corpus in itself not very large, but capable of revolutionizing the concept of modern art. His story, intermingled with that of other famous artists, many of Manet's companions of life and work, attending with him, of coffee, studios, summer residences, theaters.
The works on display come from the prestigious collection of the Musée d'Orsay in Paris: a hundred works, including 55 paintings - including 17 masterpieces by Manet and 40 other splendid works by great masters such as Boldini, Cézanne, Degas, Fantin-Latour, Gauguin, Monet, Berthe Morisot, Renoir, Signac, Tissot.
There are 10 drawings and watercolors from Manet, about 20 drawings by other artists and seven from maquettes and sculptures.
