The "Road of the Cross" (or "Via Crucis") is a contemporary sacred art park located just outside the hamlet Rongio of Masserano, along the Bisingana stream, founded by Don Luigi Longhi. It displays twenty works relating to the Passion of Christ, created by twenty different artists. All are large-scale works, nestled in the surrounding landscape of meadows and woods. The park also includes the Chapel of the Transfiguration, dedicated to the Saints Matilda, Francis, and Blessed Father Giorgio Frassati, originally a carpenter's workshop, then a woodshed. The chapel's pictorial decoration was created by the icon painter Giuseppe Papetti, starting in 1999, in a style reminiscent of Ethiopian and Byzantine art. There are also other structures, including a stone amphitheater nestled in the woods along the Bisingana River. The latter can be crossed via a long, narrow bridge that crosses a real ravine.
