Miart 2026

Foto 02/04/2026 - Miart 2026
17/04/2026 - 19/04/2026: Fairs

For miart 2026, A arte Invernizzi presents an exhibition that brings together significant works by Italian and international contemporary artists from different generations, all represented by the gallery. The works on display establish a dialogue among themselves, revealing an underlying coherence in their relationship with space: each artist offers a personal interpretation that responds to the need to give order and form to the void, transformed both physically and mentally by the presence of the works.

At the entrance to the stand is displayed the work by François Morellet, Lunatique neonly 4 quarts n°11, an international artist - with whom the gallery has collaborated since 1994 - for whom the Centre Pompidou in Metz has recently opened a major retrospective to mark the centenary of his birth. Morellet has always ironically deconstructed Euclidean geometry to render a minimalist representation of it, thereby redefining the perceptual and experiential systems of reality. The neon lights spilling over the edges of the painting - breaking its perimeter - come to life by activating the surrounding space, extending beyond the canvas’s limits.
This work engages in a dialogue with Grazia Varisco’s Reticenze, which depict a dance of static and ethereal bodies through the twisting and shaping of the suspended metal mesh that forms them.
Next to it is Francesco Candeloro’s skyline, whose works - linked to the artist’s memory and his direct experience of places - create transparent images that multiply thanks to the light that the colored plexiglas emits and diffuses throughout the space.
On the central wall of the booth, Alan Charlton’s work 24 Horizontal parts highlights both a repetition and a constant alteration of the monochromatic element, generating an internal rhythm within the work, dictated by the alternation between full and empty spaces.
To the left are the works of Gianni Asdrubali, which originates from the void - elusive yet always full of matter - featuring paintings characterized by a two-dimensional surface and a spatial frontality that render the works dimensionless. Opposite, the works by Nelio Sonego belonging to the “Orizzontaleverticale” cycle engage in a dialogue with them: the repeated yet ever-changing gesture explores the possible variations of lines within the canvas, which opens up and expands into the void, energetically occupying the space.
This expansion reaches its peak of tension in the expressive language of Niele Toroni, for whom the act of painting is closely linked to the space and time of existence. The succession of Toroni’s paint marks engages in a dialogue with the pulsating surfaces of Günter Umberg’s installation, whose monochromes - the result of multiple layers of coloured pigments applied to wooden panels since the 1970s - radiate an attractive force that establishes a constructive struggle within the work and in the viewer. The works of both artists become a concentration of elusive energy and depth, an expression of the power emanating from the works as they relate to the spatiality in which they are situated.
On the opposite wall, Riccardo De Marchi uses his signature technique of “writing-perforation” to leave a trace of his passage along a path that is mental and metaphorical as well as physical, creating a constant tension between absence and presence and repeatedly opening up new ways of seeing.

The works presented at miart 2026 share both commonalities and unique qualities that respect each artist’s distinct artistic language while, at the same time, highlighting and emphasizing the underlying connections that take shape from the material to become physical and mental images.
