On May 16 at 6 pm at the Archaeological Museum, the exhibition of Milan in Egypt - The excavations of Achille Vogliano in Fayum opens. The exhibition presents the discoveries made in the 1930s by Achille Vogliano, papirologist and professor at the University of Milan, Egypt.
The excavation campaigns he carried out in Fayum, thanks to the support of the City of Milan, greatly increased the knowledge of this area and enriched the Milan collection of several finds from the Tebtynis and Medînet Mâdi sites.
In Tebtynis mainly objects of daily life have been found, of which a substantial nucleus was donated to the City of Milan and Papiri, now part of the collection of the Papirological Center of the University of Milan which during the exhibition has lent some specimens. These materials give us a vivid image of the life of an Egyptian village of the Greek-Roman age.
